According to Cliff Arnall and his formula, today we ‘celebrate’ Blue Monday – the most depressing day of the year. The hype of Christmas is over, we are starting to give up on our New Year’s resolutions. Our motivation is low + it’s dark and cold outside. Now, we are a bit skeptical when it comes to the validity of his Math based formula, but you must admit – the man has a point. Bad weather wasn’t as annoying in December because we had Christmas ahead. But now it’s over. Probably most of us made a New Year’s Resolution to go to gym more or eat less sweets and well, we’ve already failed. The winter blues is starting to kick in… But hey! It doesn’t have to be this way! We’ve prepared 5 things you need to start doing this winter season to avoid seasonal depression!
The worst thing you can do in the winter time is to spend it in bed. Sure, it’s warm and cosy, but slowly winter blues will kick in, because spending every evening in bed is not good for you! Instead, sign up for a new class. It can be anything! You don’t have to stick to the gym – it can get a little bit boring sometimes. Instead, try dancing: pole dancing, belly dancing, tap dancing, etc. Or try out indoor sport activities, such as climbing, boxing, zumba, squash, karate or ping pong. Google activities around you. No worries, you don’t have to become a sports master, but being active definitely will help you get through the winter!
We definitely recommend sports activities, though we understand that for some of us sweating is not fun at all. Still, it would be good to have some sort of incentive to leave the house. You can try activities which don’t require physical effort from you – signing up for a language course, a chess club, a cooking class, a ceramics class or a book club. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as you enjoy it and it gives you a reason to leave the house. Try to convince your friend to join you!
Again, leave the house! And for many of us there is nothing as exciting as a trip. If you can take a week or two off, that’s great! You can always head to Southern Europe and enjoy warmer weather! There are less tourists than during this season + you’ll get to enjoy some amazing food and time off. You’ll recharge your batteries to make it through until the spring begins! If you can’t afford taking an entire week off, try taking a few smaller weekend trips. Maybe a weekend skiing or a city break?
To avoid seasonal depression on Blue Monday and the rest of winter, it is always good to be social! Make sure you spend plenty of time with your friends or with your sugar daddy. You can meet up for a yummy cookout, watch movies together or drink some wine. It doesn’t have to be anything super special as long as you are together. Vitamin D deficiency can seriously impact our mood as well as cause fatigue and tiredness. During the winter time, we are more exposed to this risk, since there is barely any sun coming out from behind the clouds. It’s hard to get enough vitamin D from your diet alone, so make sure to take supplements! You can buy them in every supermarket and it really makes a difference.
SugarDaters hope this will prove to be useful! Don’t let the winter blues get you!
